Twelve workshops make up this comprehensive program which is tailored for middle school and high school theatre teachers eager to spark their creativity and take their productions to the next level. 

This virtual program can be viewed live July 17 – 19, 2026 or watched on demand for an entire year, with handouts and worksheets to keep you organized and on track throughout the process. 

The 12 ONLINE Workshops & RESOURCES

• DIRECTING: ACTIONS AND BEAT CHANGES: Working with a resident director, this session will focus on directing student actors in a scene from one of the Broadway shows we are seeing. Give your students a clear, active approach to breaking down scenes and making bold choices. Learn how to identify beats, assign playable actions, and guide actors toward dynamic, moment-to-moment storytelling. You’ll leave with practical tools that bring clarity, specificity, and ignition to every scene you teach.
• DESIGN ON A DIME: Practical, budget-friendly strategies for creating theatrical magic with limited resources. Learn clever hacks for sets, props, and costumes that look polished without breaking the bank. You’ll leave inspired, empowered, and ready to transform constraints into pure creative innovation.
• SHAKESPEARE’S COMEDIES: A JOYRIDE FOR YOUR CLASSROOM: Strap in for a fast-paced, laughter-filled workshop that focuses on dynamic, student-friendly approaches to demystify the language, illuminate the humor, and unleash the sheer playfulness baked into every one of the Bard’s comic worlds. Through movement-based activities, ensemble games, status play, text “hacks,” and wildly fun improvisational prompts, you’ll learn how to transform scenes from Much Ado, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, and more into irresistible playgrounds for exploration.
• FORUM: RECASTING THE CANNON: Teaching classic plays through an inclusive, contemporary lens and discovering new material that speaks to students.
• BURNOUT TO BREAKTHROUGH: Sustaining Your Creative Energy as a Theatre Educator. Self-care strategies and boundary setting for long-term sustainability. 
• MUSICAL THEATRE: ACTING THE SONG: Led by a distinguished Broadway performer and music director, this class will explore practical methods for coaching students on their musical performance, focusing on storytelling, specificity, and personalization. We will work on objectives, cultivating artistry and being in the moment with any type of song.
• STAGE MANAGEMENT: Explore best practices for scheduling, creating calling scripts, organizing onstage and backstage traffic, developing run sheets and prop bibles for maximum efficiency – and find joy in the process!
• TIK TOK THEATRE: SHORT FORM STORYTELLING: Join BTW favorite Andrew Keenan Bolger for a session that gives you fun, practical tools for using short-form video to energize students and amplify your theatre programs. Learn how to create engaging behind-the-scenes content, quick storytelling pieces, and classroom challenges that meet students where they already are – online. Leave with easy, classroom-ready strategies to make your program stand out and spark real excitement.
• PROJECTIONS: Explore new technology and making the most of projections in your space.
• EXPAND YOUR REPERTOIRE WITH MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL: Meet the team and preview new shows, new technology and resources to make your productions more successful.
• PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT: Explore new technology and methods for organizing and scheduling your rehearsals, tech and performances.

NETWORKING

The 2026 BTW ONLINE will be hosted via Zoom. Participants have access to curated matchmaking & networking – and the ability to personally interact with teaching artists, Broadway guests and each other!

TUITION

Tuition for the 2026 Broadway Teachers Workshop ONLINE tuition is $299*, including all Workshops & Master Classes, Networking events and exclusive access to Resource and Reference Materials for classroom use. All recordings and resources will remain available to participants throughout the year. (*Discounts available for groups of 10 or more from the same institution.)
