Charles DuChateau

Charles duChateau is a multi-instrumentalist, conductor and educator. In addition to conducting, he has played piano, cello, accordion and erhu on (or near) Broadway for the last 22 years. He currently serves as the assistant conductor at Music Man where he also plays cello in the orchestra. Other Broadway credits include Carousel, The King & I, Spiderman – Turn Off The Dark, South Pacific, The Threepenny Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, Flower Drum Song and the National/International tours of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon. When not in an orchestra pit you will likely find “Mr. D” (as he is affectionately known by his students) teaching. He has built a thriving string program at the Tuckahoe Middle/High School in Tuckahoe, NY, as well as founding a youth orchestra, Catalyst Youth Orchestra. He resides in Westchester County, with his wife (also a B’way conductor/musician), their two teenage songs, and their 3 cats.
