Tavia Jefferson

Tavia Jefferson is currently the Associate Director of Stranger Things: The First Shadow on Broadway. Last season, she was the Associate Director on the Broadway and touring production of The Wiz.  

A Las Vegas native, church girl and avid reader from the start, her entertainment career began when she helmed her own cable access talk show “Fun with Tavia” at just seven years old, followed by a trip to New York for the International and Modeling and Talent Association Expo and then early roles on “Law & Order”, “New York Undercover” and “Cosby” and then in Madison Square Garden’s A Christmas Carol and in City Center’s Encores St. Louis Woman with Vanessa Williams.  After earning her Communications degree from Chapman University, Tavia returned to the arts, performing in shows including, All Shook Up, Trav’lin, Hairspray, Beehive, HAIR, Little Shop of Horrors, Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson ONE, the National Tour of Motown the Musical and Disney Theatricals workshop cast of Aida.  During the pandemic, Tavia focused her skills in interpersonal and organizational communication and cultural relations to build the specialized role of Cultural Coordinating, designed to improve cultural competency in artistic spaces. Tavia has served as Cultural Coordinator for multiple regional, touring and Broadway productions, including To Kill a Mockingbird, Company, Hairspray, Other World at Delaware Theatre Company and Aida at Stages St. Louis.

With 20-plus years experience in the entertainment industry, Tavia’s skills include directing, film editing, script editing, and project and diversity management.

Tavia’s primary goal is to utilize and cultivate acquired skills in entertainment, cultural relations, communications and PR that will allow her to produce culturally equitable spaces, quality performances, media materials, dazzling events and captivating communications plans.
